DESCRIPTION:The Douglas County Historical Society's Young Chautauqua program begins with an informational meeting on Tuesday\, January 11\, 2011 at 7 PM at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center\, 1477 Hwy 395 N\, Gardnerville.  Students in 4th to 12th grades are invited to choose a character from history to research and present in the first person. The Young Chautauqua program participants take part in a t-shirt design contest. The students receive a t-shirt with the winning design. \n\n \n\nThe group meets every other week for eleven sessions\, starting January 18\, 2011\, and then performs in character under the tent at Mormon Station State Park June 15th and 16th. \n\n \n\nThere is no charge for this program. Young Chautauqua is funded in part by A.V.I.D.  For information\, call Grace Bower at 782-2555
