Saturday, September 17: Western Heritage Festival Bring your own seating. The 9/7 Chautauqua and 9/14-18 Clothing Exhibit are $5 for adults, free for 16 and younger. Tickets for the Chautauqua are available in Gardnerville at Battle Born Wine and in Minden at 88 Cups & More, or online at dangberg.eventbrite.com. Unless sold out, tickets will be available at the gate. All other events to come are free for everyone. No dogs, please.
Anita Watson will portray Mary Pickford, at the Park on Wednesday, September 7, at 6:30 pm. Mary Pickford was an actress, a writer, a producer, a director, and co-founder of a movie studio. She socialized with Hollywood’s most famous stars and married a swashbuckling film hero, Douglas Fairbanks. In 1955, she published her autobiography, Sunshine and Shadows. Pickford will discuss her book and her life, including her 1920 Nevada divorce. Dr. Anita Watson teaches history at UNR and is coordinator of the Shared History Program. She has been doing Chautauqua performances for more than fifteen years and Pickford is her newest character.
