Ciana to perform Celtic music at Dangberg Historic Park
MINDEN, Nev.— Ciana will bring traditional Irish and Celtic music back to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 pm, Thursday, August 17.
With fiddles, mandolin, guitars, and singers, Cíana performs tunes and songs from the Irish and Celtic tradition. They combine fiery instrumentals and musical tales of life, death, and love to create a soulful performance.
Ciana’s roster includes Tina Carlsen on fiddle and vocals, Holly Sternberg on fiddle, Kathy Bly playing the guitar and accordian, and Joe Bly playing flute, whistles, bombarde and vocals.
The group met at Irish music sessions around western Nevada, and were soon getting together to play in living rooms and coffeehouses. After playing many local performances, Cíana caught the attention of Revel Records, which quickly signed them and released their debut recording in 2012.
“Ciana is a favorite of our concert attendees. We are thrilled to have them back once again,” said the park’s events manager, Kim Harris.
The concert is sponsored by SoaringNV, Douglas County, Carson Valley Accounting, Horsetales Magazine, Allied Sanitation Services, Bently Ranch, Dr. James the Dentist, Carson Valley Times, NV Energy, The Ridge Tahoe Resort, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, A.B.E. Printing and Copy Center, Carson Valley Inn, Cowboys Café, Jacobs Berry Farm, Nevada State Bank and the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for members and free for 16 and younger.
The park is located at 1450 Hwy 88, ¼ mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. This is an outdoor event and visitors should bring their own seating. Dogs are not permitted at this event. More information is at dangberghomeranch.org.
