Description

CARSON VALLEY COMMUNITY THEATRE PRESENTS: STEPHEN SONDHEIM, BURT SHEVELOVE, & LARRY GELBART’S A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM

Production Dates: March 10th – March 26th, 2017

The title derives from a line often used by vaudeville comedians to begin a story: "A funny thing happened on the way to the theater".

MINDEN, NV – This spring, Carson Valley Community Theatre (CVCT) is proud to present the Sondheim comedy classic A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum. Director Lucille Rao returns to the director’s chair for this fabulously funny production. This musical is truly a farce in every sense of the word, with quick quips and high jinks. The show takes place approximately 200 years before the birth of Christ, in Rome on a balmy day in spring.

CVCT most recent production of Savannah Sipping Society was very well received, and this comedic follow-up is sure to be a winner for the community as well. Bringing about a cast, crew, & production team of over 40 volunteers from the Minden/Gardnerville and surrounding areas.

He has been described by Frank Rich of The New York Times as "now the greatest and perhaps best-known artist in the American musical theater."
