Sagebrush Rebels bring country-western music to Dangberg Historic Park
MINDEN, Nev.—Sagebrush Rebels, a six-piece country-western band, will perform at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 30.
Sagebrush Rebels was formed in 2015, and all six members of the group are vocalists, performing layered harmonies that bring new life to both recent and classic country-western favorites.
The concert is sponsored by SoaringNV, Douglas County, The Record-Courier, Bently Enterprises, Carson Valley Accounting, Dr. James the Dentist, Internovations Website Design, Joe Benigno’s Tree Service, NV Energy, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, Full Circle Soils & Compost, Allied Sanitation, A.B.E. Printing and Copy Center, Carson Valley Sertoma, Cowboy’s Café, and the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation.
The group’s lead vocalist, Cherie Shipley, is a well-known singer and entertainer in the Reno, Carson City, Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe areas. She has presented many show bands of all styles since the 1980s. Her alto voice can also be heard in local jazz venues.
Fiddler Catherine Matovich is a member of the Reno Philharmonic and also plays in a San Francisco-based Cajun band. Bassist Brad Lund, like Matovich, also plays in the Reno Philharmonic. He has years of performing experience with a local bluegrass band.
Nancy Barker, who plays keyboards, has a long show history backing well-known artists, including Helen Reddy, Glen Campbell, Ronnie Milsap, and The Coasters. Guitarist Mark McKinnon, with roots in Tennessee, also lists record producer as one of his talents.
Rounding out the sextet is Ben Reino on drums. With a voice reminiscent of Vince Gill, Reino has nine years of experience playing in Nashville.
Concert tickets are $5 for adults, free for 16 and younger. Tickets are available in Gardnerville at Battle Born Wine, in Minden at 88 Cups & More, and can also be purchased at dangberg.eventbrite.com. Unless sold out, tickets will also be available at the gate. Members of the non-profit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch can attend at no charge.
