SBA 8(a) Certification 101
Description
NEW for 2023! The SBA Nevada District, alongside the Nevada Women’s Business Center will present a series of workshops on the different SBA contracting certifications. First up in the series, we will present 8(a) Business Development Certification. This nine-year business development program allows your socially and economically disadvantaged business to compete with limited competition within the Federal contracting arena.
The workshop will discuss:
- eligibility criteria;
- the program benefits for participants; and
- the application process;
- Women’s Business Center services- providing FREE business education, training, and support to help you succeed in business.
8(a) Certification Advantages:
- The federal government has a yearly goal of awarding 5% of all dollars for federal prime contracts to 8(a) firms.
- Participants in the 8(a) Business Development program can receive sole source contracts up to $4.5 million for goods and services and $7 million for manufacturing.
- Certified 8(a) participants remain in the 8(a) BD for nine years if the participant stays in compliance and meet all requirements.
