We just set the clocks back last weekend and that’s our signal that the KTVN Share Your Christmas Community Food Drive is only a month away . . . Home Ranch for the Holidays

You're invited to an old-fashioned Holiday Open House at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday, December 9 and Saturday, December 16, from 10 am to 2 pm both days. Admission is a suggested $5 donation, and everyone's welcome. Reservations are not needed.

We'll exhibit toys from the 1870s through the 1940s that were played with by three generations of Dangberg children, including books, a farm set, cowboy costumes, a doll house, dolls, doll clothing, and construction toys. The dining room exhibit will include the Haviland Limoges china service, as well as a variety of formal evening wear. Cards and gift wrapping will be displayed in the library. The living room will display toys and a decorated Christmas tree, with decorations though out the house, all of which belonged to the Dangberg family.

Music will be provided by accomplished organist and Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch President, Howard Bennett, on the 1895 organ. Treats and hot cider will be provided. The park’s store will be open, with a selection of jewelry, history books, photo notecards and other gifts.

Bingo Night on the 2nd and 4th Friday of Each Month.  Doors open at 6pm with a warm up game starting at 7pm.  The event is open to the public and cash prizes will be awarded.  Because of the cash awards, no one under the age of 21 can be admitted as required by the Nevada Gaming control Board.  The $21 Minimum package includes a 3-card warm-up, a 10-card play package, and a blackout/progressive card.  Additional cards may be purchased.  A progressive jackpot is available each night.  Complementary coffee and popcorn is available.  Nachos, hot dogs, hamburgers, beer, wine, bottled water, and soft drinks can be purchased.

CV Steak, the Carson Valley Inn's Nevada-style steakhouse and Katie's, the Inn's 24-hour restaurant are serving their regular menus plus specials on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, 2017.

Christmas Day specials in CV Steak include Garlic-Studded Slow-Roasted Prime Rib of Beef served with your choice of giant baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, twice-baked potato or au gratin potatoes for $29; and Stuffed Fillet of Sole, stuffed with crab, shrimp and scallops and served with béarnaise and wild rice pilaf for $28. Both CV Steak Christmas Day specials include vegetable, tableside-tossed house salad and fresh-baked sourdough baguette with creamery butter. Christmas Day reservations are recommended by calling 775-783-6650. The Sunset Special will not be available on Christmas Day.

CV Steak is open from 4:30 p.m. nightly featuring a selection of appetizers and a generous range of entrees including steaks, chops, seafood, chicken and pasta dishes. CV Steak entrees include tableside-tossed salad and, except for the hearty pasta dishes, also include vegetable and your choice of potato - baked, au gratin or a one-pound, twice-baked potato. Katie's is offering a Traditional Roasted Turkey Dinner  from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day with  giblet gravy, sage stuffing, fresh mashed potatoes, glazed yams, green beans amandine, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie, soup or fresh garden green salad, fresh bread and creamery butter all for $14.99. Katie’s will not be serving the December Monday Chicken Schnitzel Special on Christmas Day.  Katie's offers a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner choices plus appetizers, desserts and more!  Katie's 24-hour signature special is a $5.99 Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs plate.
