MINDEN, Nev.— An exhibit of vintage clothing dating 1866 through the 1950s will be on display this week at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. The exhibit, open September 28 through October 1, will feature both favorite treasures and items on display for the first time.
The clothing exhibit includes Gertrude Dangberg’s 1898 wedding gown, the oldest Levi’s in Nevada, and the Dangberg sisters’ fancy dresses from the first half of the 20th century.
Suits and other clothing worn by Fred Dangberg, Jr., from the 1920s-1940s will be shown, and visitors will see a range of men’s, women’s and children’s hats, shoes, jewelry and accessories from throughout the 20th century.
Children’s costumes from the early- and mid-twentieth century will be displayed for the first time, as will a collection of lace pieces from the late nineteenth century.
The clothing is displayed in the historic Dangberg ranch house, which contains the family’s original furnishings. The exhibit is open to the public from noon to 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 28 through Sunday, October 1. Admission to the exhibit is $5 for adults, free for 16 and younger, and free for members of the non-profit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch. Reservations are not required.

Oct 6    Cancer Fundraising "Burpees for Boobs"
Dear Family and Friends!
On Friday, October 6th, Kaia FIT Carson & Minden will be participating in our national Burpees for Boobs Fundraiser. There are 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the USA. So for 31 minutes, I will be busting out as many burpees as possible, alongside my Kaia sisters.

A burpee is a full body exercise used frequently at Kaia FIT. It’s an exercise consisting of multiple functional movements, including: squat, plank, push-up, stand-up and jump.

One hundred percent of the funds raised at this event will be routed through iGoPink, an organization we’re honored to partner with for this event. They are the only non-profit bringing the ‘integrated cancer care’ message to women in America.

All funds will be directed to Feeling Beautiful Again* managed by iGoPink and dispersed within our community.

You can help by sponsoring me and donating to our fundraiser page http://bit.ly/2iMy4SW

We can’t wait to see you there!

Slaughterhouse Lane Coffin & Zombie Stretcher Races

Spirits will be high as businesses, organizations, clubs, families and friends compete during the 3rd  Annual Slaughterhouse Coffin Races first heat begins at 10 a.m. at Heritage Park and we will race until there is a winner! ALL ARE WELCOME

The coffin races are similar to Virginia City's Outhouse Races and is an event in which teams of four runners push a homemade coffin down the street with a rider inside the coffin. The course is approximately 250 feet. The Race Coffin with the 4 fastest times in each class from qualifying heats will run in 2 final heats to determine the first, second, third and fourth place winners. Those four will then compete in the final heats.

Businesses, organizations, service clubs, friends and family are encouraged to form teams and create their own special coffin and to CHALLENGE others to race in the event.

All race coffins must include the Main Street Gardnerville Logo with race number which will be provided at the event and must be placed on a visible area of the coffin.

Registration per coffin is $40 for a team of 4 with 2 alternates through October 1 and $50 after October 1. Our new Junior division will be 2 person teams with stretchers and 1 alternate and will be $25 per team through October 1 and $30 after October 1.

It is a family friendly event and everyone is encouraged to participate.

Please print this FORM and have each team member bring with them for an easier check in process.

Oct 14    V&T Railroad Toast of the Canyon Wine Tasting Train
Enjoy wine and appetizers as you travel on a 45-minute trip south of the Carson City Depot into the Carson River Canyon. Glimpse a part of the route not seen every day. The track winds past scenic views of the river and the canyon walls. Bring your cameras, as there will be opportunities to photograph the "Iron Horse" as it steams by the passenger cars to re-attach to the train to pull it back up out of the canyon. Listen as the engineer blows the whistle and the echoes bounce off the canyon walls. The Saturday Canyon Trains follow the all day, roundtrip steam train rides from Carson City to Virginia City. At the end of that run, the same train continues south of the Carson City depot into the canyon.
