About Us

Our general aviation Airport is a 990-acre, full-service, non-towered facility located at the foothills of the rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains in the Carson Valley area of Douglas County and just minutes from the pristine alpine waters of Lake Tahoe. Built in 1942 as a military training base, Douglas County operates the Airport to serve diverse aviation uses, including sport aviation, emergency services and corporate flying. The area is recognized as one of the best locations in the world for soaring and is home to approximately 18 businesses, 350 based aircraft, including 80 gliders, and an estimated economic impact of $47 million and 130 jobs.

Annual aircraft movements are estimated at 90,000 with about 40 percent of these as glider/tow plane operations and motorgliders. Formerly Douglas County Airport, Minden-Tahoe Airport is one of the leading general aviation airports in the Lake Tahoe region.

We pride ourselves on being a good neighbor to those in our surrounding area and make sure to provide pilots with specific noise abatement information so that they fly their aircraft as quietly as possible and preserve the peaceful nature of our beautiful community.
